Atlantic City to New York

Sunday morning 7/7 we were up at 4:30 to begin our 12 hour ride to New York.  As we were coming out of the Absecon Inlet the sun was coming up and shining on the Oceans Casino....the picture doesn't do it justice!

The waves were stacked about 3-4 feet at 6 seconds.  As we got further out into the Atlantic the fog rolled in.....visibility was down to about a quarter mile.   Around noon the fog and waves started to subside and the rest of the trip was really nice.

We anchored on the northern tip of NJ, in an anchorage called Sandy Hook.  With all of the ferries  running, we got rolled around a bit, but once they stopped for the night we only had a couple rollers come in, but nothing terrible.

Monday we pulled anchor and started into the busy New York Harbor on a humid and hazy day.  We passed under the Verrazzano-Narrow Bridge and just past it on the left was the Ft. Wadsworth - Gateway National Recreation area.

We needed all eyes and ears on deck because there is ALOT of traffic!  Container ships, tugs pushing barges and very fast ferries!

The city coming into view!

We anchored in Liberty State Park, just behind the Statue of Liberty for the night.  They have a boat ramp which made it easy for us to get Roxie to land.

Looking forward to starting this next leg of our journey!
