St. Augustine to Cumberland Island

We left St. Augustine Monday morning 4/29.  The sun was shining and it looked to be another beautiful day!

We were lucky enough to find space at Sisters Creek free dock.  Very nice dock with water adjacent to a park and boat ramp.  Really secluded but with it being a free dock it is a really popular stop for loopers.  We stayed 2 nights and had plenty of company.

Wednesday morning we started our ride to the Oasis marina in Fernandina Beach.  What a really cool town.  They were preparing for their annual shrimp festival and and were expecting a big weekend and for the marina to be busy.  We did our normal marina stop duties like laundry and boat wash before heading into town for dinner at The Patio.  We shared drunkin cheesy bread (italian bread, soaked in red wine, covered in cheese and garlic and baked to perfection!), 2 big crab cakes and wedge salad....yum....and of course live music!

Back on the boat before a small squall came in.

Thursday we jumped over to Port Consolidated for fuel.  This was the 1st we had taken on fuel since February, when we left Marathon.  They had the best price for miles at $3.42 and we took on 550 gallons.

Just a short ride after our fuel stop we crossed over from Florida into Georgia!  Our first stop in Georgia was Cumberland Island.  The only way to get there is by boat.  The entire island is a national park that is about 17 miles long, no cars (except for rangers), wild horses and ruins of old mansions.  We even saw an armadillo!

We only got to see a small portion of the island....not having bikes to ride, we walked to the Dungeness Ruins.  Very cool place, definitely would like to make it back to and spend some time exploring this amazing island!
