Stock Island - Key West

We had an amazing months stay at the Perry Hotel and Marina!  The marina is very nice with 2 pools, 3 restaurants, live music most nights, 2 dog parks and is nicely landscaped.  Key West was just a short shuttle ride away, as were 3 grocery stores, Gordon Food Service, TJ Maxx, Ross and Home Depot.

Family and friends took advantage of our location and it was great to see Tim & Emily, Val & Jerry, Laura, Ashely and Tom.

Tim and Emily were our first guests.  They came in from Texas to see us!  The weather was cool, warm, then cool again.  We made a couple of trips to Key West via the Perry Hotel shuttle for some sightseeing, food and drinks.

Toulouse settled into boat life with no problems!

We had great weather during Val, Jerry and Laura's stay....sunny and warm. We made a couple of trips to Key West; once by bike, had a few drinks and great food.  We also enjoyed the pool and the relaxing atmosphere of the marina.

Jerry, Val and Laura got out of town just before the storm rolled in!

It was a little cooler during Ashley's visit, which see loved!  Ashley turned 23 while she was here so we
celebrated that by renting a convertible Mustang for a day.....turns out it was our lucky day too because the Mustang was upgraded to a convertible Audi A5....unbelievable!!  We visited all the beaches and explored all of Key West....so fun!  She chose La Trattoria for her birthday dinner, which was delicious.  We also got a visit from a momma manatee with her baby right next to the boat while she was here!

Mounted police stopped by the Irish Kevin's for a refresher!

Fresh Fish!

Dingy ride!

Ashley decided she wanted to take Toulouse back home with her....she just missed her too much.  Here she is at the airport getting ready to go through TSA.  Not happy.

We rented 2 scooters for the last week of our stay in Stock Island, which coincided with Tom's visit.  It was warm again and the scooters were so fun to ride around in Key West!  We spent an afternoon at Ft. Zachary State Park, explored the fort and went swimming at the beach.  We also took the dingy out  fishing and caught some fish but we didn't keep anything.  Just fishing for fun!  Tom loves seafood and made sure he got his fill before he left.

The marina hosted a Superbowl party with food and drinks!

It was so nice spending time in Key West with our family and friends...in between guests we worked on getting the boat ready for the Bahamas.  We got the guest air conditioner replaced, the water maker up and running, the generator got an oil change and new battery, installed a couple of fans and hired a diver to clean the bottom of the boat.  After Tom left we had only 3 days to provision for our next leg of our adventure....the Bahamas!  We used the scooters and made several provisioning trips to the grocery store....we managed to get everything; food, pop, beer, and alcohol for the next 8 weeks.  We returned the scooters Wednesday afternoon....had lunch in Key West, did a little bar hopping and took the shuttle back to the boat.  A great way to spend our last day in Key West!
