We were up and off the dock in Hammond before dawn making our way to the Calumet River to meet up with Flotilla 2 in Lockport.
The river was busy with commercial traffic!
Locking thru the Lockport Lock with Flotilla 2 after a 3 hour delay. There are 15 of us!
It was a long day...making to the Joliet wall just before dark.
Saturday morning the Flotilla untied the lines for another long day. We have 3 locks and 45 miles to do today.
With a short wait we were welcomed into the Brandon Road lock. Going down!
The flotilla made our way to the Dresden Island Lock in good time, but had to wait an hour to get into the lock due commercial traffic as they have priority. Unfortunately, these locks don't have anywhere to tie up so we just have to float around until it was our turn.
We made it into Heritage Harbor just before dark. The facility and it's staff were wonderful. They were very organized and had many hands to help us all tie up. Jeremy gave a down river briefing and the restaurant stayed open late for all of us hungry folks!
