Nunjack Cay to Vero Beach

Sunday 3/16.  We had a pretty rocky night in the anchorage but it wasn't too bad.  The forecast was for storms coming on Monday thru mid week.  We decided to start our way back to West End to prepare for the crossing back to Florida next weekend.

We anchored for the few nights in Crab Cay Anchorage and Great Sale Cay Anchorage.  Good time to work on a puzzle.

We arrived at West End on Wednesday 3/19 and waited out the wind until Saturday morning.

First time I've ever seen one of these!  It's a Sea Slug....

Up before sunrise for our 12 hour crossing back into Florida.  As we got closer to the Gulf Steam the waves picked up....had a 6 hour ride of 6 footers...and an occasional 8.

Once closer to FL the ride became comfortable and a pod of dolphins welcomed us home!

We anchored in Ft. Pierce and it was a busy anchorage being that it was a Saturday and Spring Break has begun.

Went for a ride in the dingy up the river to check out access to Publix.  Unfortunately, you could see it, but there was no access.  The ride was worth it though....came across this family of manatees.   The baby didn't leave it's mom's side.

This was at least a 100ft sailboat....well anchored.  I wonder how long it's been there....

Left the anchorage in Ft. Pierce Monday 3/24 and got a dock for 3 nights in Vero Beach.  A great city marina with free city bus transportation which we took advantage of.  One day we went to the beach side and enjoyed dinner at Mulligans Monday night.  Trip to TJMaxx and Publix on Tuesday and a day at the beach on Wednesday.  Great stay!

Treasure Cay to Nunjack Cay

Wednesday morning 3/12 we pulled up anchor for a short ride to Great Guana Cay and secured a two night slip at Orchid Bay Marina.

Great Guana Cay is known for 2 lively hot spots.  Grabbers, which is located on the bay side and has great sunset views and Nippers, which is ocean side with great views and a pool.  We look forward to visiting both!

Thursday was a great day!  We spent the afternoon at the beach at Nippers playing in the surf.  Then  Thursday evening we went to Grabbers for dinner and to watch the sunset.  Beautiful Day!

Bill up at the bar grabbing me a beer.  Unfortunately, we have found that there are no non-alcoholic beers in the Bahamas.

Friday morning 3/14 we departed Great Guana Bay and arrived in Coco Beach Anchorage.  We put the dingy down and road into the Green Turtle Club to get fuel in the dingy.  Once we got back to the boat we grabbed the beach bag and made out way to Fiddlers Cay and camped out on the beach for a couple of hours.  The beach was great!  First, there were so many sea biscuits! Live and dead!  I had to bring a couple of the dead ones back to the boat with me!  I also found a empty conch shell that didn't have a hole in it!

Bill lounged in the shade while I was looking for treasures and made a couple new friends!

Once we got back to the boat Bill scrubbed the waterline on the boat and I did some snorkeling and found the pretties starfish I have ever seen!

Saturday morning, we pulled anchor and started making our way to Nunjack Cay anchorage.  This is a popular stop for excursions for feeding and swimming with the stingrays and baby sharks.  We spent the afternoon walking the beach and hanging out with the rays and sharks.

Unfortunately, within all this beauty you'll find plastic on the beaches.  People tend to collect trash as they walk the beaches and put it in a pile away from the water.

You'll notice smoke in the background of the picture above.  It's a fire on Great Abaco.  It's been going for about a week, but we haven't been able to get any information on it from the internet.  A few day's ago it looked like it was about out, but the winds picked up and it looks like it started up again.
